Hi, my name is Deanna Drogan. I am a book author, digital media specialist, and journalist. I have had an on and off battle with anxiety since I was 11 years old. I view any experience I’ve had with anxiety to potentially be a light at the end of the tunnel for someone else. I am a firm believer that God does not waste anything.
I walked through a dark season of panic attacks during middle school and through a powerful encounter with the Lord, I received healing. Healing was powerful, but I was left with the lingering question, why? What was the purpose of my suffering? Why didn’t God just zap his fingers during my first panic attack, removing anxiety from my life completely forever?
My questions were answered years later as I found myself sharing my story at an inner-city school in New York to a group of middle school and high school aged girls. Thinking my words were meaningless, I walked off the stage surprised as several young teary-eyed girls came up to me, to tell me that was the first time they did not feel alone in their anxiety struggles. Suddenly it all made sense.
Without a doubt, the best remedy I find for my own anxiety struggles is talking to someone else who has walked through a similar battle. This is Biblical. For some reason the enemy has convinced us all that we were meant to carry our mental burdens on our own. We were meant to hear the stories of other people’s victories. Revelation 12:11 says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Our most important tool in overcoming fear is the blood of the lamb. Our second is the power of testimony.
So let’s talk about it. Let’s talk about our internal battles. Let’s talk about our struggles. Let’s talk about our victories. The FearLess blog is a platform for people who have or currently struggle with anxiety to tell their stories, to offer encouragement, and to share of the things the Lord has taught them through their suffering. The purpose of this is to bring encouragement to someone else dealing with a similar battle. Have a story to share or need prayer? Check out the connect page!
